SGA election candidates fall '23

OU juniors Shrey Kathuria and Aniketh Koneru (left) will compete against juniors Caden Glasscock and Cyrus Mortazavi (right) for OU Student Government Association president and vice president from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.

Voting for OU Student Government Association president and vice president and Undergraduate Student Congress representatives, opened on ENGAGE Tuesday morning and will close on Wednesday.

Two tickets are competing for president and vice president. The first candidate for president is Shrey Kathuria, a community health junior. His running mate for vice president, Aniketh Koneru, is a public relations junior.

Kathuria and Koneru’s platform is called WIN: welcoming community, igniting change and notifying you. The pair aims to create evidence-based policy, support students academically throughout the university’s move to the Southeastern Conference and increase communication between students and SGA.

Kathuria previously served as a former executive member of Zack Lissau and Denzel Akuffo’s SGA presidential administration in 2022 and as a legislative assistant in the current Christopher Firch-Emelie Schultz administration, which will end later this year.

Business management junior Caden Glasscock is the second candidate for president. His running mate is business healthcare junior Cyrus Mortazavi for vice president. The pair is running under the platform BLOOM: bridging the gap, leading us into the SEC, optimizing student resources, our traditions and making your voice heard.

Glasscock and Mortazavi plan to share more with students regarding the SEC transition to encourage transparency, increase involvement with organizations on campus and bring awareness of SGA to the student body.

For more information on both presidential and vice presidential tickets and platforms, OU Daily has previously published profiles of all four candidates. To find more details about congressional representatives, SGA Election Commissioner Seth Phung compiled a candidate packet.

Voting will close on Wednesday. Students can vote using ENGAGE by logging in with their OU 4x4.
