Sixteen students from OU were chosen as Outstanding Seniors for having unparalleled achievements in leadership, scholarship, honors, service and awards.
Mia-Lynne Smith from the Michael F. Price College of Business, was dubbed the overall Outstanding Senior by OU faculty, staff and students. Smith is originally from Tulsa.
Smith told OU Daily she owes her achievement to her involvement in organizations such as President’s Community Scholars, Campus Activities Council, Crimson Leadership Association and in the Price College of Business.
“It is essential to take time to reflect and learn what you want your priorities to be,” Smith said. “When deciding what things I wanted to be involved in and what leadership positions I wanted to pursue, I wanted to make sure that they were things that I was genuinely passionate about and that I was doing it for the right reasons and with the right heart behind it.”

Helena Walker from Norman, honored by the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education.
Natalie Norton from Midwest City, Oklahoma, honored by the Gallogly College of Engineering.
Zaryah Forde from Houston, Texas, honored by the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts.
Rishika Garg from Norman, honored by the Honors College.
Amelia Landry from Allen, Texas, honored by the David L. Boren College of International Studies.
Mandi Atwell from Okmulgee, Oklahoma, honored by the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.
Julia Manipella from Tulsa, Oklahoma, honored by the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Alison Hunt from Tulsa, Oklahoma, honored by the College of Allied Health.
Blakelyn Daniel from Atoka, Oklahoma, honored by the College of Dentistry.
Corinne Givens from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, honored by the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing.
Givens is senator in the Student Government Association at OU’s Health Sciences Center campus and a senior representative for the College of Nursing Student Association. Givens said the most important things in her journey at OU are the people that she is surrounded by: her professors, mentors and friends.
“We have gotten through it as a unit. It is not an individual thing,” Givens said.
The recipients were recognized at a ceremony on Nov. 10, where David Surratt, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, presented the awards along with representatives from each of the OU colleges.
