Two OU Daily students earned honors in the annual College Media Business and Advertising Managers national advertising competition in November.

Terry Chanda Chishimba won first place in the best self promotion ad competition for a “Start Here. Go There” staff recruitment campaign featuring OU Daily alumna Hannah Allam. Advertisements from The News Record at the University of Cincinnati, the Daily Titan at Cal State Fullerton and Collegian Media Group at Kansas State earned second, third and honorable mention honors, respectively.

Gina Smith earned second place in the best ad campaign, paid self-promotional, competition for a “There’s only one media group like ours” campaign that appears in print products and news racks. The Daily Pennsylvanian earned top honors while The McKinley Avenue Agency at Ball State finished third.

Chishimba also earned two honors in the prior year’s competition from CMBAM, an organization that supports business operations of student media across the country to ensure independent student journalism is relevant and sustainable.
