An OU alert reported a rape occurred early Saturday morning in the parking lot of Traditions Square East apartments.

According to a community-wide alert, the victim reported the assault occurred at 3:45 a.m. in a vehicle. No information about the suspect was given in the alert. Traditions East is on Asp Avenue near Lloyd Noble Center, where OU held graduation ceremonies Friday and will hold more on Saturday. 

The investigation is ongoing, according to the alert.

According to data from the Norman Police Department through May 4, there have been 40 sexual assaults in the city in 2024, or an average of 2.2 per week.
