OU African and African American Studies program hosting lecture on race

Khalilah Harris

Khalilah Harris will give a lecture entitled "Chasing Equity: Race and Post-Obama America" on Friday.

The OU African and African American Studies program is sponsoring a lecture with a federal government adviser called "Chasing Equity: Race and Post-Obama America."

Khalilah Harris, senior adviser to the director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, will speak at an event taking place Friday at 6 p.m. in the J.J. Rhyne community room at Zarrow Hall.

Eugene Smith, assistant to the director of the African and African American Studies Program, said the goal of this event is to celebrate the inaugural board of visitors for the program. Smith said everyone is encouraged to attend as the senior adviser is “an awesome and dynamic speaker who would energize people to continue to talk about race and how the country can move forward.”

Smith also said it would be a great opportunity for students to hear someone from the federal government speak.

The event is free and open to the general public, and a reception will follow.
