Norman Democrat flips seat in Oklahoma House of Representatives special election

Oklahoma Democrats added another seat to their House membership Tuesday as Jacob Rosecrants beat Darin Chambers to fill an unexpired term, NewsOK reports.

The Norman House seat was previously held by Scott Martin, who left the Legislature to run the Norman Chamber of Commerce. It is the third House or Senate seat Democrats have taken from the GOP in special elections this year alone. The minority party will have 28 members in the Oklahoma House when Rosecrants is sworn in, which could be before a special session begins Sept. 25.

Rosecrants beat Chambers, a Norman businessman and Navy veteran, winning more than 60 percent of the vote. He delivered a victory speech to a raucous crowd along at the Main Street Event Center in Norman.
