HeyDay Entertainment announced in a press release Monday it will close its Norman location following an agreement to sell the property to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

The property is adjacent to Interstate 35 at 3201 Market Place along North Interstate Drive. According to the release, the sale is due to planned highway construction. An interchange for the Toby Keith Expressway, a nearly 30 mile portion of the ACCESS Oklahoma turnpike plan, is slated for the area.

Mooney’s Pub and Grill, which is across I-35 from HeyDay, was forced to close in July due to turnpike construction.

The location will remain open until Friday, Aug. 28, according to the release. The release states the facility will continue to host scheduled private events through at least September, and will contact customers with events booked after September to discuss available options. 

Hey Pickle Pickle, the entertainment franchise’s pickleball operation adjacent to HeyDay, is not included in the sale, according to the release. 

According to owner Trey Bates, rebuilding is a possibility following construction, and he expressed appreciation to the OTA.

“I would also like to thank the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority,” Bates wrote. “Although this has been an emotional process, the OTA treated HeyDay fairly and provided the flexibility needed for an orderly transition. After construction is complete, we can evaluate the possibility of rebuilding on adjacent property.”

According to Cleveland County Assessor’s Office records, HeyDay Properties, LLC purchased the property in 2010. It has a current market value of $3,644,350. No details of the sale agreement between HeyDay and the OTA have been published on the assessor’s website as of the time of publication. 

OU Daily reached out to the OTA Monday but has not heard back as of the time of publication.

HeyDay Entertainment’s Chief Operating Officer Eli Loya told OU Daily in an email that HeyDay guests and staff are the top priority during the transition.
