Arlan Stone Martin passed away on July 25, 2026, in Rockville, Maryland, at age 94.
Arlan was born in Everett, Washington, in 1932, the daughter of the Rev. Harlan Raymond Stone and Retta M. Fancher.
She was an outstanding musician, who performed her first concert at age 11 in Seattle. She earned master’s degrees in Piano from the University of Oklahoma in 1956 and in Violin from Texas Woman’s University in 1970.
Her book, Vivaldi Violin Concertos: A Handbook was published in 1972. Arlan taught violin and piano in Staten Island NY, with her students winning many awards. She performed many recitals in New York City, Denton Texas, Sioux City Iowa and Hartford Connecticut and also played violin with several symphony orchestras.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey, her grandson, Dale, and her sister, Esther Jones.
