The Big Event Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony is the kickoff to The Big Event - OU's Official Day of Community Service. The Big Event will be celebrating its 25th anniversary by hosting Opening Ceremony in the Parrington Oval (North Oval) on April 6th, 2024. Volunteers are invited to attend this event with their friends before being sent to their assigned jobsites. We will have a limited amount of breakfast tacos available for volunteers. We will have special guests attending this event (OU President, former Big Event alumni, spirit squads (Ruf/Neks, Mascots, OU Pride, OU Cheer), and we will also have a DJ and other guest who will present the OU Fight song and the scholarships that we will be giving away. We will have photo opportunities for volunteers to capture memories of the day with their friends. At Opening Ceremony, we will be announcing our giveaway prizes, which will be promoted in the weeks leading up to the day of, on our social media page. The event will be from 8:00 am - 9:30 am, after the event, volunteers will be encouraged to either go pick up their tools if they are a group leader or drive to their job site.
