Weekend roundup: Campus Corner's first art crawl, Free Comic Book Day, more

Capstone

Visitors look at the 2017 senior capstone exhibition. The annual OU School of Visual Arts senior capstone exhibition opens with a complimentary public reception at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6.

This coming weekend marks the last of the semester. If you’re staying in town, take a study break and spend it keeping up with the local community. Here are several events happening in Norman this weekend:

1. You don’t have to go far to experience local art and support education. Campus Corner’s first art crawl, Spaced Out, starts at 6 p.m. Friday, May 4. The event will benefit Kennedy Elementary.

More information can be found here.

2. Bridges of Norman, a non-profit organization that provides wrap-around services to help homeless high school students, will host a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturday, May 5 at Norman North High School.

More information on the event can be found here.

3. Free Comic Book Day starts at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5. Vintage Stock will participate and hand out free comics while supplies last. The store will also have a sale on all of its used comics. Additionally, local shops Speeding Bullet Comics and Wizard's Asylum will have events centered around the day.

More information can be found here.

4. The May Fair Arts Festival is a two-day event, hosted at Andrews Park on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6. The festival will host handcrafted goods, free kids activities and interaction with local artists.

More information can be found here.

5. The School of Visual Arts graduating class of 2018 is presenting its capstone exhibition, "Six Hundred Days." The name is based on students’ journeys from the first day of freshman year to the final steps before graduation and the projects will conclude their time here. It is free and open to the public.

More information on the exhibition can be found here.
