Here at OU, the student body has established its own lingo for locations around campus, many of which can be confusing to any new students or freshmen.
Below is a list of terms that can be heard around campus and a guide to understanding what they mean:
LNC:
The Lloyd Noble Center is where the basketball and women’s gymnastics teams have their home games. This is also a place where students can park for free and take a shuttle to main campus.
The Bizz:
The Bizzell Memorial Library is the library located in between the North Oval and the South Oval, and it is a prime place for students to study, check out textbooks or grab a cup of coffee from the Bookmark, the coffee shop on the lower level.
The Huff:
Sarkeys Fitness Center is still commonly referred to as “The Huff” by OU students and offers students access to a free gym, basketball courts, intramural sports and some fitness classes.
The Blender:
The Physical Sciences Center (PHSC) is sometimes referred to as the Blender. The building, built in 1971, gets its nickname for its shape.
The Caf:
Couch Restaurants is the home of unlimited Chick-Fil-A, burgers, Italian food, tacos, BBQ, refreshments, breakfast, fruit, salad and desserts.
The Library:
Not to be confused with the Bizz, the library is a bar and grill off Boyd Street. It serves pizza, nachos and sandwiches.
Noval:
The North Oval
Soval:
The South Oval
XCetera!:
This is the convenience store located in the bottom of Walker Tower.
Croads:
Crossroads is a restaurant in the Union.
UPB:
The Union Programming Board is a student-run organization in charge of planning and hosting activities in the Union.
SGA:
The Student Government Association, headed by President Yaseen Shurbaji, advocates for the student body.
CAC:
The Campus Activities Council is the programming branch of the SGA. The CAC is responsible for scheduling campus-wide events.
The Daily:
The student-run newspaper that prints twice a week.
The Nightly:
A student-run news broadcast that is on-air weekdays at 4:30 p.m.
