Senior infielder Sydney Romero was selected with the third overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch League by USSSA Florida Pride.

Romero won two national championships with Oklahoma — 2016-17 — and was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American in 2018.

Romero and the Sooners hold a 38-2 record and are ranked No. 2 in the nation. Romero has started in all 40 games in 2019, and leads Oklahoma in batting average (.462), hits (61), home runs (15), RBIs (42), total bases (122) and slugging (.924).

Oklahoma will begin a three-game series at No. 11 Texas (35-9, 7-3 Big 12) Friday at 6 p.m.
