OU men’s basketball landed its first transfer of the 2026 offseason Monday as former Louisville forward Khani Rooths announced his commitment to the Sooners, per On3’s Joe Tipton.

Rooths clocked in as a four-star transfer product according to On3’s transfer rankings and was also a four-star prospect out of IMG Academy, receiving offers from 16 NCAA Division I programs. The 6-foot-10 rising junior from Washington, D.C., spent two seasons at Louisville and ranks as the No. 25 small forward prospect in the transfer portal, according to On3.

In 31 games during his sophomore season, Rooths averaged 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and an assist while starting twice. Across two years with the Cardinals, he totaled 279 points, 238 rebounds, 40 assists, 26 blocks and 31 steals.

His addition addresses a major offseason need for the Sooners, who have lost four forwards since the season’s end. Graduating seniors Tae Davis and Mohamed Wague depart alongside transfers rising sophomore Kuol Atak and redshirt freshman Andreas Holst. The trio of Davis, Wague and Atak filled key roles in OU’s late-season and postseason runs — Davis led all forwards with 13.0 points per game, Wague led the group with 6.8 rebounds per game and Atak knocked down a position-high 43 three-pointers.

With Rooths on board, OU begins rebuilding a thinned frontcourt ahead of its third season in the SEC.
