Michael Hawkins Jr. will be Oklahoma's starting quarterback for its game against Auburn on Saturday, Brent Venables announced on his coach's show Monday.
Hawkins took over for sophomore Jackson Arnold after Arnold produced three turnovers in the first half of OU's 25-15 loss to Tennessee. The freshman completed 11 of 18 passes for 132 yards and one touchdown against the Volunteers.
He led two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter as OU attempted to make a comeback. Hawkins is a four-star prospect out of Emerson High School in Dallas. Arnold completed 59.8% of his passes for 538 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions in his four starts.
The Sooners will face Auburn at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Auburn on ABC.
