No. 10 Oklahoma (23-8, 5-7 SEC) was swept in a three-game series by No. 7 LSU (30-3, 10-2) at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

OU has now lost consecutive SEC series, and was outscored 15-4 across all three games. Next, the Sooners host Dallas Baptist (19-10, 4-3 Conference USA) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Norman on SEC Network+.

In a cold and windy weekend, the Sooners offense was not able to heat up, as they went 3-26 with runners in scoring position in all three games, while only managing to collect two extra-base hits. Oklahoma did not lead once in the series.

Here are things to know from the weekend:

Thursday: LSU 2, Oklahoma 0

• Junior right-hander Kyson Witherspoon tossed in another quality start, going six innings and giving up two runs while striking out four Tigers.

• Senior left-hander James Hitt threw three scoreless innings out of the bullpen and racked up four strikeouts. Hitt has thrown 17 innings out of the bullpen this season with a 2.65 earned run average.

• Junior outfielder Trey Gambill made his return to action with a pinch-hit appearance in the ninth inning. Gambill had missed the previous game against Texas Tech, and left in the first inning in the series finale against Alabama on March 30.

• Redshirt sophomore infielder/outfielder Sam Christiansen was the only Sooner with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double in the loss.

• LSU starter Kade Anderson threw a 135-pitch complete game shutout against Oklahoma. It was the first time an opposing pitcher threw a complete game shutout against the Sooners since 2015.

“When you face a good team, you have got to execute your plan,” head coach Skip Johnson said on Friday. “That’s why consistency happens in baseball and the game of baseball demands you to be consistent in everything that you do.”

Friday: LSU 10, Oklahoma 2

• Oklahoma used seven pitchers in Saturday’s loss. Junior left-hander Cade Crossland got the start, and allowed five earned runs over five innings pitched with six strikeouts.

• Junior infielder/outfielder Brandon Cain made his first career appearance on the mound in the ninth inning.

• Gambill and sophomore infielder Jaxon Willits drove in the only Sooner runs of the game in the third inning.

• OU batters combined to strike out 13 times.

“You’re the same team you were a week ago, a month ago, two weeks ago,” Johnson said on Saturday. “It’s a baseball game. That doesn’t define who you are as a man.”

Saturday: LSU 3, Oklahoma 2

• Junior right-hander Malachi Witherspoon only gives up one earned run in six innings of work.

• Sophomore left-hander/outfielder Gavyn Jones put in 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and struck out two.

• Senior right-hander Dylan Crooks retired the only two batters he faced in the ninth inning. Crooks has a 1.37 earned run average this season.

• The only run OU scored was courtesy of a passed ball in the second inning.

• Sophomore outfielder Dasan Harris was able to cut the LSU lead to one in the ninth inning, but the Sooners were unable to cash in the tying run.

“It’s about picking each other up,” Johnson said on Sunday. “They battled and fought to the bitter end.”
