No. 1 2027 softball recruit Goose Hutchens reclassifies, will join OU in fall

No. 1 2027 softball recruit Juliana "Goose" Hutchens will reclassify to join OU in the fall, head coach Patty Gasso announced Thursday.

Hutchens, the No. 1 recruit in the 2027 class according to Softball America, originally committed to the Sooners in September. 

Hutchens was selected to be a part of USA Softball's under-18 team last summer and competed in the U-18 Women's Softball World Cup in late September-early October. She guided the U.S. to the World Baseball Softball Confederation gold medal, earning MVP honors as the tournament's top performer in batting average (.800), RBIs (eight) and home runs (two). Her high school career includes an Oklahoma single-season record of 23 home runs during her sophomore season.

Hutchens joins a freshman group that includes two current top-15 recruits in the 2026 class, including No.1-ranked Payton Westra.
