No. 1 Oklahoma (7-0) defeated No. 10 Missouri (5-2) in their 2024 home opener 197.775-196.750.

Starting on vault, freshman Lily Pederson led the team off strong with a stuck landing for 9.925, surpassing her 9.825 score from the week prior. Fifth-year senior Audrey Davis anchored the rotation for the second 9.925 stick of the night. OU ended the first rotation with a 49.350-49.100 lead.

“When Lily sticks her vault, it is not an accident,” said head coach K.J. Kindler. “It is intentional, and that was a very intentional stick. No one does it better, she just darted it right in there. She’s been incredible as the starter on vault and that’s going to be huge for us down the road.

Oklahoma extended their lead in the second rotation at bars. Freshman Addison Fatta scored a career high 9.900, and Davis stuck her landing for a 9.950. The team finished with an event score of 49.400, boosting the overall to 98.750-98.400.

Third rotation saw the Sooners taking on beam. Davis and senior Jordan Bowers each notched 9.925s, while Pederson had another stick for 9.900. With a team total of 49.375, OU pushed its lead to 148.125-147.500.

To end the meet, Oklahoma finished on floor with a team score of 49.650, its best event of the night. Davis led for a 9.925. Freshman Elle Mueller, in her Oklahoma floor debut, earned a 9.875. Pederson scored a 9.900, and in the final two floor routines of the night, Bowers and junior Faith Torrez each earned near-perfect 9.975s. Sooners took the victory with a final meet score of 197.775-196.750.

Davis had an incredible night, taking first place in two of the four events. Davis won the all-around with her 39.725 and earned herself a new career-high. Pederson also scored an all-around career-high of 39.575.

“It was a really cool feeling,” Davis said about her career-high. “I was just doing my gymnastics, trusting myself, and trusting my training.”

Next, Oklahoma will travel to Tuscaloosa, AL. to face off against No. 3 Alabama (1-1) on Friday, Jan. 24, at 6:45 p.m.
