No. 1 OU (48-7, 20-4 SEC) defeated No. 12 Texas A&M (36-16, 15-7 SEC) 6-4 Saturday in game three to win the series and clinch the regular-season Southeastern Conference championship.

Here are key takeaways:

Sooners take 2 of 3 from Aggies

The Sooners rebounded in games two and three of the series after a loss in game one that included a rain delay.

The Sooners got out to a 4-0 start in game one, including a home run from junior utility player Ella Parker.

However, the game was delayed in the bottom of the sixth inning due to lightning before restarting the following day, and the Sooners lost momentum, with the Aggies taking game one  8-5.

Parker finished the series opener with three at bats, two runs batted in and one homer, while freshman outfielder Kai Minor recorded four at bats and two runs batted in.

The Sooners defeated the Aggies 4-3 in game two, with Parker and Minor recording three at bats each, and sophomore infielder Gabbie Garcia recording four. Parker blasted a home run in game three to guide the Sooners to the series win, along with homers from Minor and junior outfielder Kasidi Pickering.

Freshman catcher Kendall Wells still one shy of record

OU freshman catcher Kendall Wells finished the Texas A&M series still one shy of the NCAA single-season home run record.

Wells recorded only one hit throughout the series with Texas A&M. She also collided with a gate while trying to make an athletic play on a popup during game two, resulting in her bleeding briefly, according to Sooner on SI’s Ryan Chapman.

Wells has carved her name into the history books throughout her first season in a Sooner uniform. She achieved the NCAA freshman single-season home run record against Texas on April 11. surpassed former Sooners Jocelyn Alo and Lauren Chamberlain’s single-season home run marks with her 35th against No. 16 Georgia (36-17, 12-12) on April 24 for a new program record.

She hit her 36th on April 25, and heading into the SEC tournament, she remains one home run away from tying the all-time record set by Arizona’s Laura Espinoza in 1995.

Sooners capture regular-season SEC title

OU secured its second straight SEC regular-season title, doing so in each of its first two seasons in the league.

The Sooners finished with a 52-9 overall, 17-7 conference record in 2025 while winning the regular season but fell short to Texas Tech in the Women’s College World Series. They will look to bounce back in the 2026 postseason, starting with the SEC Tournament.

The Sooners will play their first game in the SEC tournament against the winner of Georgia/No. 20 LSU (37-16, 13-11) at 7 p.m. Thursday on SEC Network.
