After a long regular season, it all comes down to the NCAA national championships. The Sooners have trained hard, faced injuries but have still managed to come out undefeated. After a big night, the Sooners remain untouched and will head to the NCAA finals.
Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, the Sooners underwent the first round of the national championships coming out in first against the nation's best gymnastics programs.
This was a team effort in every way, with the Sooners putting up one of the highest scores of the season (410.991).
Familiar faces like freshman Gage Dyer, Juniors Genki Suzuki and Yul Moldauer and senior Hunter Justus shined.
This was not an easy victory though. The Sooners did not take the lead until after the fourth rotation jumoing just above Penn State.
The fourth rotation is right when the Sooners started getting hot, as Justus stuck the landing on one of the year's best vault scores, a 14.666.
From then on, things began to fall into place with momentum gaining after every performance. While not the easiest win, this is certainly one of the most impressive wins of the season for the Sooners.
This win takes them into the final meet of the season where they will face the two other qualifying teams for the chance at a fourth consecutive national championship.
Finals will kick off Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. CT.
