Oklahoma football: Ty Darlington accepts quality control position

LAWRENCE, Kansas — Oklahoma senior Ty Darlington looks up to the stands. The senior center helped Oklahoma to a 62-7 win over Big 12 foe Kansas on Oct. 31, 2015.

Former Oklahoma offensive lineman Ty Darlington announced via his blog that he accepted an offensive quality control position with the Sooners.

Darlington wrote in his blog post that he will be working mostly with skill positions. He said the position was offered to him by Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley after former coach Bob Stoops' retirement. Darlington wrote:

"Over the next 6 weeks or so (after Stoops' retirement), I had several conversations with Coach Riley that eventually concluded with me being offered a Quality Control position on the offensive side of the ball. Of course, the immediate answer was a resounding 'YESSSSS!!'"

Later on in the post Darlington said he's happy he will be "constantly uncomfortable" in his new role, and that he "will have a chance to learn from one of the preeminent offensive minds in the country."

Darlington started 26 games for the Sooners and won the Campbell Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy.
