Oklahoma redshirt senior defensive back Justin Harrington was granted a seventh year of eligibility, head coach Brent Venables announced Wednesday.

"Other great news for us is Justin Harrington won his appeal," Venables said. "... Really excited for Justin."

Harrington started at Cheetah for the Sooners' first two games of the 2023 season before suffering a season-ending ACL injury in OU's game against SMU. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder recorded six tackles and an interception in the two games he played.

Harrington joined the Sooners in 2020 after two seasons at Bakersfield College. He appeared in all of OU's games in 2022 and tallied 23 tackles along with an interception.

Sophomore linebacker Dasan McCullough primarily filled in at Cheetah while Harrington was injured. Both will return to Norman for the 2024 season.
