Oklahoma junior wide receiver Jalil Farooq was arrested in Norman on Thursday night after a traffic stop.
“We are aware of the matter and it is being addressed internally,” a team spokesperson told the OU Daily.

According to the police report obtained by the OU Daily, Farooq was arrested around 9 p.m. in Norman. He was pulled over for having an expired paper tag on his vehicle and driving erratically.
According to the report, at the time of the stop Farooq had four outstanding municipal warrants. Sarah Schettler, Norman Police Department's public information officer, wrote in a text message to OU Daily that Farooq's warrants include a failure to appear in court, driving over a curb, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and an improper right turn.
The junior wide receiver’s arrest comes a day before No. 9 Oklahoma’s (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) Bedlam matchup against No. 22 Oklahoma State (6-2, 4-1) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Stillwater. This season, Farooq has 26 receptions for a team-high 449 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs. He has also notched 14 carries for 60 rushing yards in 2023.
