UPDATE: The possible suicide subject is now indoors, and OU officials are asking individuals to stay clear of the Adams Tower area until 5:30 p.m., according to an OU Alert.
Students have gathered into a prayer circle on the basketball court near Adams Center as individuals talk with a possible suicide subject who is sitting on a window ledge on Adams Center's southeastern tower’s 12th floor.
Members at the scene were reported to have said that the man in the window is a Sigma Phi Epsilon pledge member.
OU officials sent out a text alert around 3:30 p.m. saying, “Possible suicidal subject Adams Center, Tarman Tower, avoid area.”
Catherine Bishop, vice president for OU Public Affairs, said officials don’t know anymore at this time.
Shortly after, resident advisers received a text message telling them to convene near Adams Center to help with crowd control.
The entire Walker-Adams Mall was cordoned off by police tape. Pedestrians were advised to walk around the mall or cut through Walker Center. No students were allowed to enter Adams Center.
Elissa Ungerman, Cate Center Resident Student Association president who was helping near the area, said officials were trying to clear students from the Walker-Adams Mall area.
Resident advisers were told to not speak with the media at the scene.
Housing and Food services sent an emergency text message asking resident advisers to help with crowd control around Adams Center, where there is a possible suicidal subject.
OU's original emergency response alerted students of a possible suicidal subject near Adams Center, Tarman Tower at around 3:30 p.m.. The text asked individuals to avoid the area.
