OU will merge commencement ceremonies beginning in May 2024, according to an email sent to graduating seniors by University Events on Thursday.
There are now 12 combined ceremonies. In the past, there were 19 separate commencements, one for each college. All the May 2024 commencement ceremonies will be held at Lloyd Noble Center unless otherwise noted.
A university-wide commencement ceremony was not included in the new list of graduations. Instead, the email states the university is planning a “Party at the Palace” for May 3 and shared that additional details will come in the spring.
The two ceremonies that will not be held at Lloyd Noble Center will take place on May 7 at OU-Tulsa and will include all degree paths in the college. The second will take place on May 18 at Catlett Music Center and will recognize graduates from the College of Pharmacy.
The College of Dentistry’s doctor of dental surgery and dental hygiene graduates will be honored in a ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 9.
The Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing graduates will walk across the stage at 2 p.m. on May 9.
The College of Allied Health, Hudson College of Public Health and Health Sciences Center Graduate College graduates will be recognized at 2:30 p.m. on May 10.
Graduates of the Gaylord College of Journalism and Communication, Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture and the David L. Boren College of International Studies will walk at 7 p.m. on May 10.
The humanities and natural sciences graduates from the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences and all degrees housed in the College of Professional and Continuing Studies and Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts will have its ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 11.
Professional programs and social sciences graduates will be honored at 12:30 p.m. on May 11.
The Michael F. Price College of Business will hold its own commencement at 4 p.m. on May 11.
The Gallogly College of Engineering, Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy and the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences will recognize graduates at 7:30 p.m. on May 11.
The College of Law’s juris doctorate and master of legal studies ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on May 12.
The final commencement at the Lloyd Noble Center will take place at 10 a.m. on May 18, recognizing graduates of the College of Medicine.
