Election results: Rusty Grissom wins District 3 county commissioner seat, defeats Michael Nash

Incumbent Rusty Grissom won the election for the District 3 Cleveland County commissioner against former Ward 5 Councilmember Michael Nash.

As of 8:32 p.m., with 7,586 votes cast, Grissom earned 68.78% total of the votes, or 5,218, according to unofficial results from the Oklahoma Election Boards website. Nash earned 31.22%, or 2,368 total votes. 

Rusty Grissom wrote in a text to OU Daily thanking his supporters and wrote he will listen to county residents.

 “Thank you to the voters of Cleveland County for trusting me another four years to serve District 3 and Cleveland County. … I will fight to protect taxpayer dollars, upkeep district roads, assist local schools and first responders and continue to boost economic development. I will continue to listen to you and the needs of this county,” Grissom wrote.   

Former Councilmember Michael Nash resigned from his seat as Ward 5 council member in August 2025. In a text to the Daily he thanked his supporters and wrote the government belongs to the people.

"We must never forget that we, the PEOPLE, are the source of all legitimate power in this country. Every elected official needs to understand that every decision they make should start with that simple truth ..." Nash wrote. "The people are growing tired of a government beyond their control that treats them like a crop to be harvested. Things will change, just not today."

Grissom will continue to serve as Cleveland County District 3 commissioner until January 2031.
