Bree Montoya won reelection for a second term as Ward 3 council member, defeating challenger Sandra Artman.
As of 7:54 p.m. with 3,117 votes cast, Montoya received 53.64%, or 1,672, of votes cast, according to unofficial online results from the Oklahoma State Election Board. Artman received 46.36%, or 1,445 votes.
In January, Montoya said she wants to follow through with existing city council projects, such as developing an internal auditing department for council and improving sidewalks throughout Norman.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed representing my ward and being their voice and visiting with them on their issues,” Montoya said. “Helping them with their different things that are going on, whether it's trash issues, flooding issues or what have you.”
In 2023, Montoya defeated incumbent Kelly Lynn for the council seat, receiving 53.18% of votes cast.
Montoya told OU Daily Tuesday night that she owes her win to her constituents.
"All I want to say is thank you Ward 3," Montoya said.
Montoya serves on the Council Finance Committee and Community Planning and Transportation Committee. She is the director of the business valuation and litigation support department at Gray, Blodgett & Company, a locally owned public accounting firm.
Montoya will be sworn in in July and will serve a two-year term.
