David Surratt has been confirmed by the OU Board of Regents as the new dean of students and vice president of student affairs.

Surratt who previously worked at University of California, Berkeley as the associate dean of students, is an alumnus of OU and graduated with a doctorate in higher education administration from George Washington University.

“When it comes to making a professional decision, the idea of working at a place like Oklahoma, in terms of the size of the institution that is measured around certain aspects of public education is something that really spoke to me,” Surratt said.

Additionally, Surratt will be the head of a new committee called the Student Code of Conduct Review Committee.

Suratt's annual salary will be set at $225,000 for 12 months and will begin his position at OU on Feb. 11, according to the OU Regents agenda.
