Large parts of Norman experienced power outages late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
In an email to the OU Daily Monday morning, OG&E wrote the outage was caused by an issue with equipment that had to be repaired or replaced.
"Crews inspected the lines and equipment overnight to find the issue; our control centers worked quickly and safely to reroute power to customers."
OG&E wrote that all power was restored by 2:50 a.m. Sunday.
Power was restored in some neighborhoods near campus around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Loud booms were heard multiple times in parts of Norman after the outages began.
OG&E told the Daily the reported booms were people setting off fireworks and unrelated to the outage.
Over 20,000 residents were without power starting around 10 p.m. Saturday night into early Sunday morning, according to the OG&E power outage map.
