OU Daily Publications Board elected Audrey McClour as its 2026 summer editor-in-chief Friday.
McClour is a journalism sophomore and currently serves as a news editor for the Daily with a focus on city coverage. She has worked at the Daily since fall of 2024. From May 2025 to December 2025, McClour worked as a radio news reporter at KGOU, Norman’s NPR station.
McClour has written about city council, Norman infrastructure and university developments.
As summer editor-in-chief, McClour said she wants to promote extensive enterprise coverage and human interest stories.
“I want to encourage diving deeper into coverage,” McClour said. “Not only broadening what they cover, but working on more enterprise and feature stories and really assessing the human impact of the work we can do.”
McClour said her own time as a news reporter with the Daily over the summer motivated her candidacy.
“I was writing longer-form. I was handling breaking news better, and it just was such a chance to develop as a journalist, and I also think it is very intrinsic to my leadership style now,” McClour said.
She said she wants to continue to facilitate growth in younger staffers the same way it was encouraged in her.
“Before I came to the Daily, I kind of knew what I wanted to do, but I didn’t have any kind of path forward, and the Daily has given me a path that feels very real and very steady,” said McClour.
McClour said the Daily has been quintessential to her growth and is her “home away from home.”
“I've grown so much personally in my confidence, in my leadership skills, in my interpersonal skills, but I've also grown as a journalist, …” McClour said. “The people, the organization as a whole have given me so much guidance for just the rest of my career.”
McClour will start serving as editor-in-chief in May.
