Norman native, OU alum and one-man band Mike Hosty performed at Copeland Corner ahead of the release of his upcoming album, “Hot Steve and the Tweekin’ Topeakans.”

The local legend has performed for over 30 years, becoming a staple at The Deli where he performs every Sunday. Hosty blends various styles with a kazoo duct-taped to his mic while playing drums with his feet.

His song “Oklahoma Breakdown,” which was covered by country artists Stoney LaRue and Toby Keith, inspired the documentary of the same name that explores his career.

The Copeland Corner series, inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, highlights local and student artists through stripped-down performances in the OU Daily newsroom. Full video performances are posted every other Wednesday.
