OU announced all in-person classes after 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 will be canceled for Showtime on the Soval featuring country duo Dan + Shay.
Norman campus, OU Health campuses and OU-Tulsa will suspend academic and campus operations while online courses will continue as scheduled, according to the email. Students in clinical rotations or other health-related programs are advised to check with faculty or preceptors.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. that Thursday on the South Oval with gates opening at 5 p.m., according to a mass email sent to the OU community.
Only essential employees will be required to remain on site or report to their on-campus positions. Remote work will not be permitted, but OU said eligible employees will be granted administrative leave. The university will resume normal operations on Oct. 24.
Admission to the concert is free to students, faculty and staff but attendees are required to reserve a ticket, which will be available to claim beginning Oct. 1. Faculty and staff will be required to show a valid university ID along with their ticket for entry.
The email states the event will have concessions and follow OU’s security protocols, including a clear bag policy.
The concert is part of the Soval Series, a lineup of events designed to celebrate OU spirit and tradition including a Beat Bevo Bash and Holiday Lights to support OU’s “Lead On, University: The Next Phase” Strategic Plan.
