OU Office of University Community provides advocates for DACA students

DACA

Industrial and systems engineering sophomore Carlos Rubio, dental hygiene junior Janely Franco and psychology sophomore Diana Prieto pose for portraits Sept 6.

OU's Office of University Community has created a network of advocates for OU students protected under the recently rescinded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).

Jabar Shumate, vice president for University Community, released an email list Sept. 12 of designated OU faculty members who can answer questions about the issue and directly assist impacted students. President Donald Trump's Sept. 5 decision to rescind the DACA program affected 80 undocumented OU students and approximately 7,000 undocumented Oklahomans.

Faculty members are available to both DACA students and concerned members of the community, according to the email. Advocates and contact information can be found below.
