The Board of Regents gather their belongings at the end of the meeting Oct. 24.

The OU Board of Regents will hold a special meeting Thursday for "discussion and consideration of, and/or the designation or appointment to" the university presidency.

The regents will meet at 8:15 p.m. May 16 at the Robert M. Bird Library at OU's Health Sciences Center, according to the agenda.

The regents may consider appointing an interim president, according to a statement, or may choose a process for the selection of a permanent replacement.

This meeting comes after OU President James Gallogly announced Sunday night his intention to retire once a plan is in place to select his successor.
