Full-time OU faculty will receive raises starting Jan. 1, 2019 after OU's Board of Regents approved OU President James Gallogly's administration's fiscal year 2019 Faculty Compensation Program during its Dec. 11 meeting.

This is the first faculty raise since an across-the-board 2 percent pay increase in 2014, according to the regents' agenda. It will cost the Norman campus $4.6 million.

"The proposal includes a minimum 1.5% market-based salary increase (or a minimum of $1000), a maximum 6% market-based salary increase, and a 1.5% salary increase (or a minimum of $1000), for individuals already paid above the benchmark or where benchmark salaries were not available," Gallogly wrote in an email sent to the OU community about the raises.

Faculty Senate Chair Megan Elwood Madden said these raises came about after conversations with Gallogly. Faculty are pleased, but hope for continued action, she said.

The regents also approved four individuals to fill executive positions after several search committee processes were completed.

Ken Rowe will serve as the chief financial officer, Charles Wright will serve as OU's chief audit executive, John Woods will be OU's executive director of governmental affairs and Lauren Brookey will be OU's vice president for marketing and communications.

An $11 million renovation project for the OU armory was passed, as well as a recommendation that every football game closest to Veterans Day host a military appreciation celebration.

Other agenda items included license and contract renewals and personnel matters, among other things. The next Board of Regents meeting will be Jan. 29-30.
