Sooners celebrate

OU football is bringing back a classic look this weekend.

OU (4-0) teased the return of its throwback uniforms on social media Monday, suggesting the vintage-inspired design could make another appearance Saturday when the Sooners host Kent State (1-3).

The helmet is plain white with a single crimson stripe and no logo, paired with crimson jerseys featuring white numerals and tri-striped sleeves. The design strips away “Sooners” across the chest, leaving only the Jordan Brand logo and Southeastern Conference patch. The players will also don white pants with crimson stripes.

First unveiled in last year’s 16-12 win over Houston, the uniforms honor OU teams from 1946 to 1956.

Saturday’s game marks the second meeting between OU and Kent State. The Sooners won the first matchup 33-3 in 2022, the second victory of the Venables era.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
