Fireworks show after the Race to the SEC 5K glow run on July 1.

This story will be updated throughout Monday as Oklahoma makes its official transition to the Southeastern Conference.

Oklahoma is officially a member of the SEC. The University of Oklahoma and OU Athletics released a series of events scheduled to take place on July 1 in Norman and various events in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Here is live coverage of OU’s first day in the SEC:

2:30 p.m.:

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, OU athletic director Joe Castiglione and OU president Joseph Harroz Jr. talk to the media at a press conference.

11:25 a.m.:

The OU football facility features new decorations.

11:00 a.m.: 

According to a Norman Police post on X, formally Twitter, Jenkins Avenue will be closed between Lindsey Street and Brooks Street starting at 1 p.m. through 11 p.m. for the day's events.

10:00 a.m.: 

A billboard in Times Square features OU's logo and the SEC logo together.

8:30 a.m.:

OU celebrated its first day in the SEC at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Oklahoma City. OU women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen, OU men's golf head coach Ryan Hybl, OU men's basketball head coach Porter Moser, OU women's gymnastics head coach K.J. Kindler and OU softball head coach Patty Gasso were in attendance and spoke to the audience.

OU president Joseph Harroz Jr. and OU athletic director Joe Castiglione were also in OKC.

"This is a great thing for the University of Oklahoma," Castiglione said. "It wasn't any shade thrown against any other member, it's about what was best for Oklahoma."

"There's a lot of teams in the SEC that we've tried to schedule over the last eight years and they've said no," Cohen said. "So we're really excited about playing them now."

12:01 a.m.:

OU officially joins the SEC

OU celebrated its move to the SEC on July 1 by hosting Party in the Palace. Everyone was invited to experience the transition to the new conference.
