The Arizona Cardinals informed former OU quarterback Kyler Murray that he is being released, per Ian Rapoport on social platform X.

Murray spent the last seven seasons in Arizona after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He won the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and earned two Pro Bowl selections.
During his time with the Cardinals, Murray threw for 20,460 yards and 121 passing touchdowns with 60 interceptions. He added 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns, finishing with a 92.2 passer rating.
Murray later released a statement on the social platform X regarding his upcoming release.

Murray signed a five-year, $230.5 million extension with the Cardinals in 2022. With his release, Murray will be due $36.8M guaranteed for 2026, which could position him to sign a minimum contract elsewhere this upcoming season.
