OU Board of Regents approved a series of contract extensions, salary increases and title changes for OU football personnel during its meeting Friday.
New athletic director Roger Denny’s contract was approved through June 30, 2030. Denny will earn a base salary of $1.25 million and will be eligible for performance bonuses beginning July 1, with merit-based raises available after July 1, 2027.
New tight ends coach Jason Witten also received approval for his contract, which runs through Jan. 31, 2028. Witten will earn a base salary of $285,000 plus $390,000 in contractual add-ons.
Several offensive staff members received raises and contract extensions through Jan. 31, 2028. Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh’s contract was extended, while wide receivers coach Emmett Jones’ salary was raised from $650,000 to $675,000. Offensive analyst Kevin Wilson’s title was changed to assistant coach with a base salary of $250,000 through Jan. 31, 2028, and offensive analyst John Kuceyeski received a raise from $200,000 to $250,000 with an extension through Jan. 31, 2028.
Defensive personnel accounted for the majority of the approved adjustments. Defensive tackles coach Todd Bates saw his salary increase from $950,000 to $1.15 million, while defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis’ pay rose from $740,000 to $1 million. Safeties coach Brandon Hall was raised from $700,000 to $785,000, and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai received an increase from $750,000 to $785,000, with his contract running through Jan. 31, 2027. Linebackers coach Nate Dreiling’s salary increased from $450,000 to $635,000, with his deal running through Jan. 31, 2028.
Special teams coordinator Doug Deakin also received a significant raise, with his salary doubling from $250,000 to $500,000 under a contract that runs through Jan. 31, 2028.
Additional support staff adjustments were approved as well. Senior assistant general manager Lake Dawson and assistant general manager Taylor Redd both received contract extensions through Jan. 31, 2028. James Dobson’s title was changed to director of sports performance, with a base salary of $285,000, with $415,000 in contractual add-ons and a contract running through Jan. 31, 2028.
