Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables expressed optimism on the status of redshirt senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel during his weekly press conference on Monday.

Venables stated the same about junior wide receiver Jalil Farooq, who was banged up on the Sooners' final drive of the game on Saturday.

"Dillon and Jalil, I feel like both those guys, if they continue to progress throughout the week, they'll be available this weekend," Venables said.

Gabriel did not play the entire second half of Saturday's 31-24 win over BYU after suffering an "upper body injury" on OU's final drive of the first half.

Freshman and former five-star recruit Jackson Arnold took Gabriel's place and completed five of his nine passes for 33 yards. He also rushed eight times for 24 yards.

Venables had announced following OU's previous game against West Virginia his plan for Arnold to redshirt the remainder of the season, which he can no longer do.

Oklahoma (9-2, 6-2 Big 12) will face TCU (5-6, 3-5) at 11 a.m. Friday in Norman on Fox.
