Class of 2027 linebacker Cooper Witten has committed to OU, per Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman’s announcement on social platform X.

Cooper Witten, a junior at Liberty Christian High School in Argyle, Texas, is a four-star recruit and is the No. 1-ranked linebacker nationally and the No. 8-ranked linebacker in Texas. In his sophomore season, he recorded 45 tackles, one sack, one safety, six pass breakups, five interceptions and two pick-sixes. His freshman year, he finished with 82 tackles, six pass breakups, one safety, four tackles for losses, two interceptions and one pick-six.
Cooper Witten will be following his father, Jason Witten, who recently left his role at Liberty Christian as the head coach to be OU’s new tight end coach. Jason Witten played 17 seasons in the NFL, where he recorded 13,046 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns.
Cooper Witten is the No. 14 recruit in the Sooners’ 2027 class, which is ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to 247sports.
