The NCAA has denied OU football linebacker Owen Heinecke's appeal for an extra year of eligibility, according to SoonerScoop's Georgia Stoia.

This comes after Heinecke's initial petition was denied on Jan. 30. It is not clear at this time if he will take legal action against the NCAA.

Heinecke, who has been a Sooner for four seasons, played three games of lacrosse when he was a freshman at Ohio State University, which the NCAA is counting against him. He started his OU career as a walk-on before starting five games and recording 74 tackles in 2025.

He intends to participate in the NFL combine Thursday through Sunday.
