...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Air temperatures as high as 105 and heat indices as high as
110. Overnight lows only drop to around 80 each morning.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, northwest, southeast,
southern, southwest, and western Oklahoma and northern Texas.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

OU forward Liz Scott announces season-ending shoulder injury

Redshirt senior forward Liz Scott announced Friday that she will be out for the season with a shoulder injury. 

“I’m disappointed to announce that I’ll miss the season with a shoulder injury,” Scott said on her post. “I wanted nothing more than to be out there with my teammates this year, but I know they’ll do incredible things without me on the court. I plan on attacking my rehab to the best of my ability and coming back stronger than ever. To all of Sooner Nation, thank you for all the love and I can’t wait to cheer on this team with you guys.”

OU head coach Jennie Baranczyk offered her own comments on the matter to local media day on Thursday.

“The loss of Liz is devastating,” Baranczyk said. “She’s worked really hard. If you’d ask anyone on our team, they’d be like ‘she’s the leader.’ She’s just going to move over in a different seat and different capacity.”

Liz Scott started in all 33 games in 2022. She averaged 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 12.5% from 3-point range and 50.5% from the field. Her absence brings a blow to the Sooners, who lost the trio of Taylor Robertson, Ana Llanusa, Madi Williams this offseason.

Oklahoma is set to face Wichita State in its home opener at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 in Norman.
