No, not Sly Stallone. Jenks linebacker Rocky Calmus verbally committed to OU on Tuesday.
The 6-4, 210-pound inside linebacker helped lead the Class 6A Jenks Trojans to the state championship last season.Jenks football head coach Alan Trimble said Calmus wanted to stay in Oklahoma to play football.
"He felt like since he was the Oklahoma defensive player of the year last season, he felt he should stay in the state and play," Trimble said.
"He thought about going to Kansas State, but the fact that he'll be able to play in front of friends and family helped him make the decision to stay in state and play football.
"Calmus made a name for himself when the Trojans dominated the Class 6A state playoffs last season.In the semi-final round against the Moore Lions, Calmus scored three touchdowns.Calmus ran wild against the Yukon Millers in the state championship game when he scored five rushing touchdowns.
Calmus rushed for 1,268 yards and scored 24 touchdowns during Jenks' championship season.
But it's Calmus' defensive play that has attracted college recruiters.
He recorded 53 solo tackles and collected five sacks during his senior season.
