OU’s Norman campus will close for the third day in a row, with classes to be held online and work completed remotely. An update from the South Oval at 3:15 p.m.:
An OU weather alert announced the Norman campus will continue online and remote work on Thursday due to anticipated inclement winter weather conditions.
According to the alert, the OU-Norman campus will continue remote work and classes. OU Online will continue regularly scheduled instructions.
This is the third consecutive day the Norman Campus will close due to weather conditions.
In an email sent to the Norman Public Schools community, NPS Superintendent Nick Migliorino announced that Thursday would also be a remote learning day and schools will be closed to students and school site staff. Extracurricular activities, including athletics, have also been canceled.
Forecast from the National Weather Service: On Thursday, the weather is expected to be sunny, with a high near 20 degrees Fahrenheit and wind chill values as low as -11 degrees Fahrenheit. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low of eight degrees Fahrenheit and winds between three to eight miles per hour.
The extreme cold warning in Norman will continue until Thursday at noon.
Oklahoma is one of several states experiencing winter weather warnings. A majority of Kansas is under an extreme cold warning and a large swath of northeast Texas is under an extreme cold watch. Parts of southwest Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and northern Arkansas are under a winter storm warning, with snow and sleet accumulations forecast between four and 10 inches.
