OU is working on several campus improvement projects over the summer to better accommodate upcoming and returning students, faculty and staff for the fall semester.
According to the Division of Campus Operations's website, OU is working on repairs to sidewalks, streets and parking lots including the Elm Street parking garage, which will stay closed until Aug. 12.
The Division of Campus Operations ensures the efficient operation of essential university functions and services including the maintenance of university facilities and the operation of campus utilities, public safety, campus dining, parking and public transportation, and on-campus housing.
Expansion of Hal Nieman Field parking will last through Aug. 15, blocking some parking spaces south of Sarkeys Fitness Center.
The Lloyd Noble Center bus turn-around will also be under repairs until Aug. 1, and while bus service will continue, it will temporarily relocate until repairs are complete.
There will also be renovations to the restrooms on the first and second floors of Sarkeys Energy Center and to the restrooms in the Engineering Laboratory building.
The Oklahoma Memorial Union roof will also be replaced. This replacement will last through early fall, and some sidewalks around the building may be blocked.
The OU First-Year Housing Master Plan, the construction of two new residence halls on the site of the old Adams Center residence hall, is currently in Phase 1 of construction.
The Adams Center was demolished in May 2023, after the spring semester ended, and the construction of the North building began the following summer. The building is planned to open in fall 2025.
The construction of the south building for the new dorms began this year. The building is planned to open in fall 2026.
