OU announced Friday an update on the interim leadership at the College of Professional and Continuing Studies and the Honors College.
According to an email sent by Senior Vice President and Provost André-Denis Wright, Gregg Garn, interim dean at the College of Professional and Continuing Studies, will return to his role as full-time vice president for online learning at OU.
With this change, Mark Morvant will serve as the interim dean of the college as the college continues to find a permanent dean.
Wright wrote that Garn’s leadership in online space has been valuable to the college, as it has seen an enrollment increase of 38% over the academic year and a 71% increase in summer credit hour production, alongside the launch of five new programs last year, with three more being added in the fall.
“Dr. Morvant is deeply dedicated to supporting the academic journey of our students, and with his pioneering approach to online learning and teaching, the future of (Professional and Continuing Studies) is in good hands,” Wright wrote in the email.
In the Honors College, Michael Markham will serve as the college’s interim dean due to current interim dean, Kelvin White, going on sabbatical for the fall semester.
Markham serves as the associate dean for academic programs in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences and is a Case-Hooper professor of biology. He has been working at OU since 2011.
The Honors College has been without a permanent dean since 2017 when former dean David Ray left the position. Aside from the Honors College and the College of Professional and Continuing Studies, dean positions at the David L. Boren College of International Studies, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Price College of Business don’t have a permanent dean.
Both of these changes are effective July 1 pending final approval of the OU Board of Regents.
