Last Friday, over 150 students across campus were recognized at the 2024 campus awards ceremony for their dedication to the university, community and peers.
The Campus Life Award is given to 30 juniors and seniors that have shown commitment to the university through character, leadership and service.
Senior Brandon Kieu was awarded the George Henderson Jr. Award, which recognizes students who have made a positive impact in the OU community.
Junior Wesley Russell was awarded the Belinda Biscoe Leadership Scholarship, an award celebrating a student that has enhanced campus diversity.
PE-ET is an honor society with a long-standing tradition to recognize 10 outstanding seniors.
Twenty-six OU students were named to the Letzeiser Honor List based on leadership, scholarship and service to the university. Of those students, three were awarded medals.
The Fern L. Holland Award recognizes an undergraduate student that has a drive and passion to make a difference in the world. The award was given to Gallogly engineering Junior Hala Jahjah.
The President's Award for Outstanding Transfer Students recognizes the top 10 transfer students and their dedication and commitment to campus.
The President's Award for Outstanding Volunteer recognized three students that have made an impact in the community through volunteerism. The recipients were aerospace engineering senior Lindsey Mueller, chemistry/biochemistry senior Abbygail Tan and multidisciplinary senior Jacquelyn Simmons.
The ceremony also has three separate awards to recognize the 15 top freshmen, sophomores and juniors that excel in character leadership and service. The President's Award for Outstanding Freshmen, President's Award for Outstanding Sophomores and the Regents' Award for Outstanding Juniors.
Jordan Hickman, a management sophomore was selected as one of the President's Outstanding Sophomores. She said it was special for her to see the people that the award ceremony brought together and see all the students who are making a big impact on campus.
“I think it's really special to be even considered for it or even receive it because it's awesome to be surrounded by so many amazing students at OU,” Hickman said.
At the award ceremony OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. announced the Campus Life Award will be renamed to the Kristen Partridge Campus Life Award. A few days ago, Harroz posted on his Instagram announcing this decision and shared the positive impact Partridge has made on campus.
“Every day, it's our mission to change the lives of our students, and there is no greater example of the positive influence leadership can have on our students than what Kristen has done in her various roles over the last two decades,” Harroz wrote.
Partridge is associate vice president and associate dean of students and has worked at the university for more than two decades.
