Multiple university executives removed from positions as of July 2 during James Gallogly's first week in office

Gallogly talks

President-designate James Gallogly talks with Nick Hathaway before the ceremony begins April 21.

Several university executives have been removed from their positions as of July 2 according to an OU press release in major administrative shakeups on OU President James Gallogly's first work day in office.

Nick Hathaway, executive vice president and vice president of administration and finance and vice president for strategic planning, as well as Rowdy Gilbert, senior associate vice president for public affairs, are no longer in their respective positions at OU in administrative actions that became official July 2 according to an OU email notification.

In addition to these changes, Associate Vice President and University CFO Chris Kuwitzky, Executive Director of Federal Programs Scott Mason, Chief Audit Executive Clive Mander and Vice President for Governmental Relations Jonathon Nichols have all been removed from their positions, according to a university press release.

The changes in staff come during Gallogly's first official day in office as OU's 14th president and nearly two weeks after Gallogly gave a report to the OU Board of Regents criticizing the finances of the university — which Hathaway's position tasked him with governing. Clarke Stroud, former OU dean of students and OU vice president, also stepped down from his position to become head of football operations at the same regents meeting.

Hathaway, who has been on staff with the university for 24 years, served as OU's chief fiscal officer under former OU President David Boren. Gilbert took over in his position upon the retirement of the former vice president for public affairs in 2016 and directed university public relations for external media during his time in office. Gilbert previously served as a development officer in the David L. Boren College of International Studies.
