Construction crews on Jenkins Avenue resolved a gas leak issue just before noon on Tuesday, according to an emergency RAVE message.

Construction crews hit a gas line, causing a gas leak outside of Jenkins Avenue Parking Facility Tuesday morning, according to OUPD Public Information Officer Chase Brooks.

According to Brooks, the parking garage will not be evacuated but he expects traffic issues around the area.

“The danger isn’t so great that anybody would need to be evacuated … That should be resolved pretty quickly,” Brooks said.

According to an emergency RAVE message, the university urged people to avoid the area.

Brooks said Norman Fire Department and OU Facilities are actively on site responding to the leak.

Brooks predicted the situation would be resolved in about an hour.
