For the third time this season, three different Sooners have earned a Big 12 weekly awards in the same week.
Freshman Olivia Trautman, junior Jade Degouveia, and freshman Karrie Thomas each took home one of the Big 12’s three weekly awards.
Trautman was named Gymnast of the Week after a phenomenal performance in a win against Florida on Friday. The freshman delivered career highs in all four events and tallied a 39.725 all-around score, the second-highest in the country. She also anchored the floor squad for the Sooners in the final rotation of the night and clinched the victory with her floor routine.
Degouveia was named Event Specialist of the Week for the second time this season. She set a career high in the floor exercise on Friday with a score of 9.975. She also added a 9.9 on vault, which was an integral part of one of Oklahoma’s best vaults of the season.
Thomas shared the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week award with Denver’s Alexandra Ruiz. Thomas only had one routine on Friday night, but she made it count with a career-high 9.925 on uneven bars. She helped the Sooners earn a program-record 49.725 score on bars.
The Sooners go on the road this week for their first conference meet of the season against No. 7 Denver on Sunday, March 10, at 3 p.m. CT.
